After studying history and philosophy, Lionel has started acting in the music field as a Tour artistic manager. In 2003, he serendipitously began to direct films after a request from legendary producer Ibrahima Sylla and went to Western Africa to direct Mandekalou, words of memory, which pays tribute to the tradition of African praise singing. That same year, he joins the Silhouette Short Films Festival, a unique outdoor short films festival in Paris.

In 2010, his feature documentary Rock’n’roll… Of Corse! premiers at the Festival de Cannes as part of the Official Selection. Since then he is both producing and directing and in 2012, Lionel takes over To Be Continued (TBC) productions and turns the company into an independent collective production house composed of experienced and junior producers with their respective fields of expertise. TBC is committed to the writing process of a film and focuses on “cinéma d’auteur” projects that have a strong commercial added value, a contemporary cinema that is both demanding and accessible.

As a filmmaker, his new projects include Songbird – South African Icon, Miriam Makeba biopic and a feature documentary on legendary punk/rock band The Clash drummer, Topper Headon.

As a producer, projects include La Macchinazione by David Grieco, on Italian iconoclast artist Pier Paolo Pasolini murder and Church Lake by Dara Bratt, a psychological and supernatural thriller describing what happens to a small town that is witness to an airplane crash.
